Michelson Found Animals was founded in 2005 with a mission of saving pets and enriching lives. With more than $100 million committed to animal welfare, MFA seeks to reduce shelter euthanasia in Los Angeles and across the country.
It operates a range of initiatives, including providing grants and fostering partnerships that put resources in the hands of communities in need, carrying out research that promotes pet-inclusive housing policies, and more. In the 16 years since its launch, MFA has helped more than 8 million pets and their families.

As we celebrate the Fourth of July and recognize National #LostPetPrevention Month, take a few simple steps to help keep your furry family members safe:
✔Make sure your pet has visible ID tags.
✔Register your pet`s microchip.
✔Keep pets on a leash or in a secure harness whenever they`re outside.
✔Try a calming aid. If your pet struggles with anxiety, talk to your veterinarian about options that may help.
✔Create a safe, quiet space indoors where your pet can relax away from the noise.
✔Exercise your pet earlier in the day to help them rest more easily during the evening festivities.
A little preparation can go a long way in keeping pets safe and with the families who love them. ❤️

This week at Los Angeles City Hall, we joined Councilmember Bob Blumenfield (@bobblumenfield), CAMP (@campclinics), Animal Balance (@animalbalance), CATS at the Studios (@catsatthestudios), and our community partners to announce a groundbreaking $1.3 million public-private partnership to expand affordable veterinary care and spay/neuter services across Council District 3 and the San Fernando Valley. The partnership combines an $800,000 grant from Councilmember Blumenfield with a $500,000 commitment from Michelson Found Animals through the Robert & Erika Brunson Spay/Neuter Fund, which honors Erika Brunson’s decades-long commitment to expanding spay and neuter access.
This partnership will:
🐾 Expand spay/neuter access
🐾 Fund large-dog and cat clinics
🐾 Launch a dedicated CAMP mobile clinic for CD3
Together, we`re investing in solutions that address the root causes of shelter overcrowding by increasing access to affordable care before pets enter the shelter system.
