Access To The Joy Of Pets For All

Today, there are pets in 2/3 of all American households. Unfortunately, one in ten households in America lives under the poverty line. This means that there are millions of households where family members have to make difficult decisions around shelter, food and healthcare and it can mean that pets – members of the family as well – may be surrendered.

Because Michelson Found Animals believes that everyone, regardless of their socioeconomic status, deserves the right to the joy of pets, we launched Better Neighbor Project (BNP) to deliver pet support to communities in need.
Our goal is to keep pets with the families who love them.

Better Neighbor Project partners with both animal well being and human service organizations to develop collaborative programs that support under-served communities and their pets. Our collaborations help get free pet food and supplies into the hands of pet owners, rescues and shelters, offer low-cost or free vaccine clinics, connect pet owners with the resources they need and more.

Resources for LA Nonprofits

We rely on pet food and supplies manufacturers to donate to BNP, which allows the team to divert unwanted products to nonprofit organizations for their adoptables or community members with pets. If you are a qualified 501c3, you may be eligible to receive donated pet product for your organization’s clients, community events, or shelter/rescue pets.
