Reasons to RegisterFree to Register, Free to Use, Free to Update
Microchips are useless until they’re registered in a database, where important contact information is stored should your pet ever go missing. The sole purpose of our registry is to return pets to their people. Regardless of your chip’s frequency or where you got it, you can register with us. Many registries claim to be free, and often end up charging for updates and transfers. We’ll never charge fees – ever.Create an Account
What is a Microchip?Your pet's permanent ID
About the size of a grain of rice, a microchip is implanted beneath your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades.
It contains a unique number used to identify animals when scanned by a shelter or vet. The number is then used to find the owner’s contact information in a registry. Like the amazing free registry you’re at right now.
What a Microchip Isn'tHaving realistic expectations
A microchip is not a GPS or tracking device. Those need to be charged. It does not store your contact information, photos, have any apps, games, or even have a flashlight function.
How Our Registry WorksConnecting lost pets to their people
Register your pet's microchip here for free, then input vital contact information and details about your pet.
Hopefully this won't happen, but 1 in 3 pets goes missing at some point in their life - so it’s important to take every precaution necessary.
Pet Found & Scanned
When a lost pet is brought to a shelter or vet, their microchip is scanned and the owner’s information is retrieved using the Michelson Found Animals Registry.
A pet professional then issues a Found Pet Alert, which notifies the owner using 12 points of contact over the course of 4 days.
Pet Goes Home
Bring your pet home and smother it with kisses, tummy rubs, and treats. You both deserve it.
