Pomelo was one of the citrus kittens on the old Found Animals Live CAM at SEAACA in Downey. Every day Jan would tune in and check in to see how the kittens were doing. Usually they would either be asleep in their playpen or climbing the walls to escape and chase each other around! Jan’s original plan was to adopt one of Pomelo’s siblings, Kumquat. The kittens were adopted out via lottery and Jan was chosen to be the new forever home for Pomelo. They liked his name so much that they decided to keep it, even thought Pomelo isn’t very fond of citrus fruits. Since his arrival in the Sandys-Renton house he’s quickly become one of the family. He absolutely adores Jan’s 16 year old son, Andrew. And he’s definitely a lap cat – Pomelo will jump into her lap, knead her belly for a couple of minutes, then settle down. He’s quite content to sleep there as long as he’s allowed.

You may recognize Baxter from our very first Live Cam. He was one of pups featured in our Save-A-Stray for the Holidays promotion. Baxter was brought to the SEAACA shelter as a puppy after his owners decided that they didn’t want to care for him anymore. When his new mom, Mindy, saw him, her heart melted immediately. On the first night in his new forever home he wasn’t the least bit shy. He crawled into bed with her and snuggled up like they were old friends. We’re happy to report that they’re still an inseparable pair!

Marlon, a.k.a. Chunk, a.k.a. Hunk-A Chunk-A Burnin’ Love, was rescued from SEAACA by Aimee Gilbreath, the Executive Director of Found Animals. The moment Aimee laid eyes on the playful pit puppy she knew he would flourish in a loving home. Unfortunately, Chunk was born blind and Aimee knew it would be more challenging to find a home for a “special needs” animal like Chunk. She fostered Chunk along with her pit bull, Rufus. The two bonded and Rufus quickly became a big brother to Chunk. Through diligent training Chunk is able to enjoy life just like any other puppy despite his inability to see. Read the story of how Chunk found his new forever home and how he got the new name “Marlon” in the Santa Fe New Mexican! At Save-A-Stray for the Holidays 2010, the Drake-Cotrufo family (Linda, Darci, Jacob, Amanda and Julie) made the decision to add another dog to their family. They headed down to the Harbor Shelter where they were greeted by pet matchmakers who toured them around the facility. After being introduced to the cutest 2 1/2 yr old Miniature Schnauzer/Border Terrier mix they had ever seen, they knew he was the one. Scruffy’s name fit him perfectly as his wiry coat and his long facial hair gave him a nice rugged appearance. We’re happy to report that he has settled into his new home wonderfully! He is very protective and makes his presence well known when he senses someone coming to the door. He’s often found walking room to room in the house just making sure everyone is okay.
