The Adoption Process Each shelter has a different process for adoption; some have a screening process while others do not. We suggest adopters be patient during this process and remember, shelters also want the best for their pets! When can we bring him home? The adoption process often takes two trips to the shelter. Once you meet your match, and complete the adoption paperwork, most shelters require your pet to be spayed or neutered.
