HOP INTO SPRING WITH AN ADOPTED BUNNY!
Every year at Easter, pet shops fill up with adorable bunnies for sale. Most of them come from breeders who are concerned with profit, not the health of the pet--in other words, rabbit mills. Studies say that 95% of all rabbits adopted at Easter are dumped. While the typical life expectancy is five years, rabbits can live 15 years when properly cared for and are not a seasonal gift. Bunnies are a pet for life, not just an Easter basket treat.

Did you know that female rabbits can produce 12 bunnies each 28 days, starting at the age of 3 months old? Only spayed or neutered rabbits are adopted out. Rabbits should be indoor pets and can be easily litter box trained. They need love, attention, exercise and companionship just as much as a pet dog or cat. In return, bunnies make excellent pets and are affectionate, clean and docile. This year, adopt a bunny that needs a home and save a life!

The bunnies featured on our cam were from the PetSave Foundation and their Rabbitat located in San Pedro, CA. Please visit www.petsave.org to fill out an application for adoption. If you do not live near San Pedro, please visit your local shelter or rabbit rescue--you can be the Forever Home for a very special rabbit. You can also find out some great information about how to care for your rabbit here. We also suggest visiting www.rabbit.org for additional rabbit care information. If you can't adopt a rabbit, we invite you to visit www.makeminechocolate.org for an opportunity to learn how to help homeless "Easter" bunnies.

Save a Stray for the Holidays!

Found Animals launched their first LIVE Cam in December 2008, promoting the message Adopt, Don’t Shop with the Save a Stray for the Holidays event.

Adorable puppies from local animal shelters spent ten days Healthy Spot’s storefront, where potential adopters could admire them from afar on live web cam.  Adopters competed for a chance to win one of the puppies by submitting essays on why they would make the best parents.

Celebrities Max Silva and Jason Lugavere, of Current TV hosted the adoption ceremony, uniting the new parents with the holiday pups!
