Adoption Program Coordinator The Found Animals Foundation, Inc. (Found Animals) is a Los Angeles-based 501(c)(3) with a mission to develop innovative solutions that minimize the euthanasia of pets in animal shelters. The organization is a social entrepreneurship venture committed to bringing business principles to bear in addressing animal welfare issues. Found Animals is well funded and managed by business and medical professionals. The organization seeks enthusiastic, talented professionals with a proven track record to join a fast paced, entrepreneurial team. Found Animals seeks a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Adoption Program Coordinator. The organization provides an exciting start-up environment and the opportunity to work with highly talented individuals. It is a dynamic organization that values creativity and innovative thinking and fosters strong teamwork with mutual respect. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Independently manage the ModPawd, located at SEAACA in Downey, CA
- Work with and train volunteer corps to handle adoptions, kennel cleaning, basic medication and other duties as needed
- Select and ensure that cats are prepared for transfer from SEAACA to the ModPawd
- Fill in shifts for adoption counseling and kennel cleaning as needed
- Proactively seek solutions to challenges at the ModPawd
- Respond via email and in person to all pet-related inquiries
- Work constructively and cooperatively with SEAACA staff
- EEffectively communicate with our adopters about animal welfare and the Foundation’s mission. Maintain a positive and upbeat tone while being honest and forthright about the realities of animal shelters. Maturity and poise in communication at all times. Originality and enthusiasm is essential.
- Execute extensive marketing and follow-up for all featured animals
- Be able to handle a variety of domestic animals (cats, dogs, rabbits…) and navigate the shelter environment
- Be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
The ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:
- High school diploma or greater
- Animal handling experience in an animal care center setting
- Volunteer management experience
- Ability to work independently and make thoughtful and mature decisions while considering consequences
- Sense of urgency and effective use of time
- Basic understanding of cats, dogs and rabbits as companion animals
- Must be able to climb stairs
- Willingness to ask questions and seek additional information either through Found Animals or independent research
- Ability to communicate quickly and effectively through written means in a way that is genuine and still reflective of the mission and vision of the Foundation
- Strong organizational skills
- Computer literacy including MS Office applications and the ability to do basic statistical analysis
- Excellent communication skills (including spelling and grammar)
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Impartial knowledge of the Los Angeles area shelters and rescues also helpful
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
