Digital Media Intern

The Found Animals® Foundation, Inc. (Found Animals®) is a Los Angeles based 501(c)(3) with a mission to develop innovative solutions that minimize the euthanasia of pets in animal shelters. The organization is a social entrepreneurship venture committed to bringing business principles to bear in addressing animal welfare issues. Found Animals® is well funded and managed by business and medical professionals. Found Animals® seeks a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Digital Media Intern. This position reports to the Digital Media Program Coordinator and Director of Marketing, and is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day development and maintenance of the Foundation’s digital media platforms.

This internship is a paid position at a rate of $15 per hour. College credit is also available in lieu of payment. This position requires a commitment of 10-15 hours per week at the Found Animals’ animal- friendly Los Angeles, California office.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist the marketing department in the maintenance of day-to-day implementation of approved online strategies, including monitoring and engaging conversation on all digital platforms and increasing and retaining our fan base.

• Research and collaborate with staff in the development of comprehensive digital media plans by exploring evolving trends and interactive marketing approaches, and providing recommendations for overall or campaign-specific plans.

• Research and recommend offline marketing initiatives that support and expand the digital media program.

The ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:

• Demonstrated passion for building a strong digital media portfolio and social media presence (professionally and personally)

• Experience in and strong understanding of social networking, viral campaign management, blogging/microblogging, multimedia sharing (podcasts, video streaming, etc.) and other digital platform practices

• Strong communications skills with demonstrated ability to write for and interact with a wide range of personalities and audiences in the digital space

• Motivated self-starter able to work independently and with various teams

• Animal welfare experience or knowledge helpful, but not required

• Applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. Coursework or degree in marketing, communications, journalism or public relations preferred, but not required.
