TweetFound Animals is always happy when February rolls around because it gives us a chance to celebrate an important part of pet ownership, spay & neuter! The last Tuesday of every February of each year is National Spay Day. Spay day is an annual campaign of The Humane Society of the United States created to inspire people to save animal lives by spaying or neutering pets and feral cats.

In honor of that, we plan on making an entire month of it by celebrating spay and neuter all of February. Our grant partner SNP LA (Spay and Neuter Project of Los Angeles) is hosting 3 open houses across Los Angeles at each one of their spay and neuter clinics:
Feb 1, 2012

Feb 8, 2012

Feb 29, 2012

SNP LA will open their doors to the community so the public can come meet their great staff and tour their facility. This would be a great time to meet SNP LA’s veterinarians and ask any spay or neuter questions you may have. There will be snacks and refreshments and give away door prizes a few lucky attendees!
Be a responsible pet owner by spaying or neutering your pet in order to prevent the millions of unwanted puppies and kittens born each year. Help make sure every pet is a wanted pet! Visit our resources page to find a low-cost spay and neuter clinic near your.
If you are interested in supporting spay and neuter in your community, you can donate money to SNP LA or volunteer with animals at a Spay & Neuter clinic.

According to The Humane Society of the United States, euthanasia is the number one killer of dogs and cats in the U.S., with an estimated 6 to 8 million companion animals entering shelters every year and only half finding homes. Research has shown that spaying and neutering is the most effective method of preventing shelter overcrowding and lowering the global euthanasia rate. Each year, California alone spends approximately $250 million coping with the consequences of a surplus of companion animals. In fact, it is estimated that for every dollar spent on spaying and neutering, individual taxpayers save more than $18. It’s facts like these that show us the importance of spaying and neutering. A spay or neuter surgery is safe and relatively fast. Owners drop off their pet in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon. Healing time takes about a week. Your dog or cat may need to wear an e collar and take some mild pain medication. If you have a cat or small dog, it is best to bring your own carrier so you don’t need to purchase a cardboard one at the clinic.

Will there be one in Sacramento?
I attempted to complete my registration and got to the spot where it read “I agree to adhere to all your policies” When I tried to open and read what you wanted me to sign “policies and terms” I could not open the file to read before I sign. Can you assist me to find out what it is you want me to attest to without reading the terms??
