February is a big month for spay and neuter and our partners at the Spay Neuter Project of Los Angeles (SNP LA) have a particularly exciting milestone to celebrate – their 50,000th surgery!

SNP LA was founded in 2007 (under its previous corporate name, Clinico) with a mission to make spay and neuter services affordable and accessible to low income pet owners in the Los Angeles area. Since then they’ve gone from using the clinic at the Southeast Area Animal Control Authority on days the shelter was closed to opening three permanent locations of their own in Pico Rivera, Van Nuys, and San Pedro. Sometime next week a lucky client will be the recipient of SNP LA’s 50,000th surgery. That’s 50,000 low cost and free surgeries provided to under served pet owners. That’s 50,000 cats and dogs that won’t have a litter that could end up in our already overwhelmed shelters. Bravo SNP LA!

As I’ve blogged before, the SNP LA staff work incredibly hard to help the pets and people of Los Angeles, so this achievement deserves a celebration. In honor of Spay Neuter month and their 50,000th surgery the SNP LA team is hosting open house parties at each of their three locations. This is a great opportunity to meet SNP LA’s expert medical staff and tour their state of the art clinics. The open houses also feature great prizes, including a chance to win free spay & neuter certificates. I attended the event at the Pico Rivera clinic last night and it was a hit – even SNP LA ambassadog Landy and clinic cat Mustachio made an appearance.

Come on out and meet the team at the San Pedro location on February 8th from 4-7 pm or the Van Nuys location on February 29th from 4-7 pm.
And regardless of whether you can join the party, please help us support the fantastic work of the Spay Neuter Project of Los Angeles by spreading the word about their fantastic spay neuter and vaccination services at great prices and donating so that they can continue to offer subsidized pricing to low income pet owners.
