Celebrate Pit Bull Awareness with Hector and Wallace
Anyone who’s met me (or my dog Rufus) knows that I am a huge fan of pit bull type dogs, and that I consider it a personal mission to dispel the myths about pit bulls. So, I’m incredibly excited that Found Animals has the privilege of hosting two celebrity pit bulls in Los Angeles on October 30th. The wonderful Roo and Clara Yori are trekking out west with their amazing dogs Wallace and Hector – and you are invited to meet them!
Wallace is a shelter pit bull who went on to become a disc dog champion and is the subject of a newly released book by Jim Gorant – “Wallace: The Underdog Who Conquered a Sport, Saved a Marriage, and Championed Pit Bulls–One Flying Disc at a Time”:
If Gorant’s name seems familiar to you it’s because this is not his first book on pit bulls. In 2011 he penned “The Lost Dogs: Michael Vick’s Dogs and Their Tale of Rescue and Redemption”, which chronicles the amazing tale of the dogs seized from this brutal fighting operation.
The Yori’s other pit bull celebri-dog, Hector, is one of the Vick dogs that just celebrated the 5 year anniversary of his release to rescue. Hector became a media darling during his time with BAD RAP before finding a permanent home with Roo and Clara. He has earned his Canine Good Citizen (twice!), passed the ATTS temperament test, and is a certified therapy dog.
The whole Yori clan – human and canine – are on a mission to bust stereotypes about pit bull type dogs and we are thrilled to welcome them and their message to Los Angeles. Please join Found Animals and Angel City Pit Bulls at the gorgeous, brand new Marina del Rey location of Healthy Spot for an evening of celebration with Roo, Clara, Hector, and Wallace.
Cocktails and light appetizers will be served. FREE Wallace books to the first 5 reception guests. Books will also be available for sale on site. Please RSVP to our Facebook event page so we know that you are coming.

It is so sad to see the stereotypes that pits get. Some of the most loving dogs I have ever had the pleasure of meeting are Pit Bulls!
I just found this posting. I am also trying to re-define how the people meet think about Pit Bulls. I have a great 2 year old rescue and she is the most loving, playful, cuddle bug you will ever meet. She love playing with the kids while on walks, she is great at dog parks, & so easy to train. Pit Bulls really are the best family dog
My son recently was adopted by a pit/mix lol. I am trying to train her to use a puppy pad inside and then I am going to train her to go outside. Since she is only 7 weeks old I am scared to leave her outside for too long by herself is there anyway to potty train her better for right now?
