Found Animals® Presents “Summer Buddies” - The Double Adoption Promotion 2nd Adoption Fee Covered When You Take Home Two Cats or Kittens!

Visit Our LIVE Kitty Terrarium On Display @ The Westfield Culver City Center

LOS ANGELES (August 11, 2010) - Found Animals® Foundation (www.foundanimals.org) is inviting the public to join them in celebrating the success of it’s “Summer Buddies,” two’s better than one, cat adoption promotion, in which the organization will cover adoption fees for a second cat or kitten when two are adopted from any of the 14 City and County animal care center locations, through September 30, 2010. The “Summer Buddies” promo follows Found Animals’ recent “Better With A Buddy” adoption event, which resulted in over 400 animals (cats, dogs, and other pets) finding new homes on Saturday, June 19, 2010, just in time for Father’s Day. Since the single day event and launch of the promotion, over 212 pairs of cats/kittens from the various Los Angeles animal care center locations have found homes.

The 2009 “Summer Buddies” promotion received a tremendous response, resulting in 195 cat pairs (390 cats total) adopted from just three participating Los Angeles locations. This year promises to be even more successful with 14 participating City and County animal care centers and the LIVE Kitty Terrarium on display at the popular Westfield Culver City Center. 6.5’ tall, 5’ wide and armed with 8 adorable kittens, makes it next to impossible to pass without stopping to watch the playful antics of these adorable furry felines! The attention stealing display has been the purrrfect promotional vehicle. Once engaged, Found Animals® staff members and/or volunteers can offer promotional materials, adoption information, directions to the animal care center closest to you and even coloring books and crayons to children, teaching them about adoption and being a responsible pet owner. This innovative and educational LIVE display supports the “Summer Buddies” promotion and will help find homes for hundreds of beautiful cats. The Found Animals® LIVE Kitty Terrarium display can next be seen on Saturday, August 14 and Sunday, August 15 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Westfield Culver City Center (6000 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City, CA 90230), in the Punctuation Station on the lower level by JC Penney.

The summer months represent the peak of “kitten season,” when local shelters are flooded with thousands of homeless kittens in need of adoption. “Summer Buddies” is designed to address this animal welfare and community crisis by promoting cat adoptions. The special “two’s better than one” promo continues until September 30th, 2010, delivering a great double adoption value to pet lovers, providing lifelong feline companions to people throughout Southern California, and saving the lives of hundreds of animals.

Moreover, “Summer Buddies” shines a spotlight on the millions of animals available for adoption from municipal shelters each year. Only about 50% of these animals make it out alive, mostly due to public misconception, minimal awareness in regard to shelter locations, and overcrowded and underfunded facilities. “Summer Buddies” and similar programs help resolve these issues and deliver immediate benefits to entire communities.

“Our ‘Summer Buddies’ event was a huge success last year, and we’re poised to take it to new and amazing levels in 2010,” noted Aimee Gilbreath, Executive Director of Found Animals®. “With a great location in the Westfield Culver City Center, more awareness, and potential for a strong turnout, we’re very excited for the impact we can have on ‘kitten season’ and the ability to save hundreds of cats throughout Southern California. This is yet another example of how Found Animals® creatively and effectively shepherds animal welfare, and it’s something that I find especially inspiring. Plus, as many pet lovers would attest to, two cats are better than one!”
